Louisiana Development Ready Communities

Louisiana Development Ready Communities Program is one of LED’s strategies to strengthen the economic competitiveness of municipalities.

LED is now accepting applications for 2012. All Louisiana municipalities can apply.

Communities must implement four development-ready elements (community assessment, strategic planning, leadership development and marketing a community) before completing their own economic development strategic plans.

Program benefits include:

• Developing an understanding of community needs and issues
• Preparing a roadmap to address community needs and measure accomplishments
• Receiving customized training, community research data, strategic planning assistance and a community visit by a professional mentor
• Becoming more competitive for good jobs, business development projects and capital investment
